Carlos Garaicoa (nascido em 1967) é um artista contemporâneo cubano, especializado em fotografia e instalações. Garaicoa tornou-se um proeminente artista cubano nos anos noventa, após um êxodo massivo de artistas que desempenharam um papel decisivo no movimento artístico cubano dos anos oitenta. Suas peças geralmente trazem comentários sociais e políticos sobre a vida em Havana. O trabalho de Garaicoa é conhecido por se basear na teoria pós-modernista para conectar a estética ao significado dentro dos espaços urbanos e da arquitetura.
Os artistas cubanos dessa época incluíam Alexandre Arrechea , Marcos Castillo e Dagoberto Rodríguez, Fernando Rodríguez e Sandra Ramos . Esses artistas são conhecidos por incorporar 'técnicas artesanais', como a carpintaria, em suas obras. Garaicoa costuma analisar e usar a arquitetura como técnica artesanal. Garaicoa junto com os demais artistas da época foram os primeiros a enfatizar o uso da cidade de Havana como espaço central de sua arte.
